An investor at Royalty Exchange purchased a nine-track listing that included hits from Rihanna, Future and Luh Kel, among others for $96,700. That’s 7.42 times the listing’s earnings in the last 12 months.

This asset’s tracks include Luh Kehl’s “Y.O.U.,” Future’s “Rider” and most notably Rihanna’s “Loveeeeeee Song.”

“Loveeeeeee Song”

One of the songs included in this royalties listing is Rihanna’s “Loveeeeeee Song," which she recorded for her seventh studio album, “Unapologetic” in 2012. It features vocals by rapper Future who also co-wrote the song. The music was produced by Luney Tunez, Emmanuel Zaragoza (previously known as Mex Manny) and Future.

Tunez admitted in an interview, “That was one of the beats I really don’t like. It wasn’t one of my favorites. When I made it, I was in the mindset of being real, melodic, laid back, and sexy. I knew it was going to be a pop-female record, but when I made the beat, that’s how I felt. I didn’t want to put too many instruments in it,” he said. “[Future] was just saying you needed some soft R&B, somewhat ghetto a little bit. It was one of the ones I played to him and he went in and did his thing. Shout out to Rihanna. They loved it and the rest is just history.”

Future was also excited to work with Rihanna. In an interview with MTV in 2012, the rapper said, “We connected, it's something with the universe, something in the air that we haven't even got a chance to find out yet, because we've yet to have met face-to-face. The feel and vibe is nice, you couldn't even tell that by listening to the song, you'd think that we was in the studio, we was around each other [or] we knew each other.”

But why the seven E’s in the title?

Blame it on Jay-Z. According to MTV, Future revealed that the original title was “Love and Affection.” However, when Jay-Z heard it, Future stated, “[He] felt like he wanted to be a part of it and named it with the seven E's at the end. It was amazing."

The song peaked at number 55 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and charted on the R&B Chart at number 14. The song is certified Silver in the UK and Platinum in the United States.

Royalty Earnings Performance

The listing’s earnings are pretty consistent since the catalog has matured over the course of 7+ years. With iconic artists in this asset, there’s no doubt that it could still grow further down the line.

The investor who first bought the listing in November 2023 received a desirable ROI after recently selling it for $96,700 at the end of May this year. The original purchase was made for $61,000 after the catalog was showing remarkable growth lately since Q2 2022 and was continuing to rise. The investor made a 53.3% ROI in just 0.5 years of holding this asset, with $5,490 in royalties received over the course of that time and $88,964 going to the sales proceeds.

As you can see from the most recent listing, the Q4 2023 earnings were even higher than the peak of the first sale of Q3 2023.

“Loveeeeeee Song” contributed the most revenue with $11,664 in the last 12 months.

It continues to be popular on TikTok, which helped boost streaming revenue all over the world. The user generated video on TikTok enabled large growth in discovery for actual consumption and continued listenership which contributed dramatically to the recent growth.

Streaming is the top source of earnings for the listing with $7,308, which accounts for 56% of all earnings. “Loveeeeeee Song” has 417 million streams on Spotify, and 157 million views on YouTube.

Among music users, Apple Music dominates the platforms with $3,348 in earnings in the last 12 months, followed by Spotify with $1,672, and Pandora with $1,165.
