This fall, Drake will return to his R&B roots with a collaborative album alongside PartyNextDoor. The world heard of this on Friday, August 2, when PartyNextDoor was performing in both of their hometowns of Toronto during his headline tour. According to reports, Drake surprised the crowd at the Budweiser Stage and told die-hard fans, "On behalf of me and Party, we've been working on something for y'all." He insinuated that the work was actually an ongoing project since June. "When it gets a little cold, PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be right there waiting for you."

The relationship between Drake and PartyNextDoor extends beyond being labelmates at OVO Sound. PartyNextDoor has co-written quite a number of Drake's tracks, like "Legend" and "Elevate". During the concert, Drake showered PartyNextDoor with many compliments, calling him the "King of R&B" and telling how he had affected his music and career incredibly. This only furthers their professional relationship, so a collaboration will promise a blend of both of their sounds.

The concert, part of PartyNextDoor's "Sorry I'm Outside" tour, saw Drake onstage for nearly an hour. The performance included deep cuts that rarely, if ever, are performed live, and new tracks that include "Wah Gwan Delilah" which fans speculated to be AI generated originally and his 2015 "Sweeterman" remix. It spoke volumes of the appreciation he has towards his hometown fans and his dedication to offering a special music experience.

The surprise appearance and really genuine performance came quite opportune, especially after tamping down his beef with Kendrick Lamar. It also made for a refreshing change from the typical summer music scene, full of predictable hits and diss tracks. Focusing on R&B, Drake proved he can do anything and really takes his craft seriously.

PartyNextDoor has said that this collaboration will be huge for both artists and the repertoire of R&B music, since the fans are looking forward to the release.
