In June, it was announced that the singer-actress will be replacing Tyler, the Creator as one of the headliners in this year’s event.

After launching her music career with her debut EP, “Can't Blame a Girl for Trying” in 2014, Carpenter has since released several successful albums, including “Singular: Act I & Act II” and “Emails I Can't Send.” Carpenter's hit songs include "Thumbs," "Sue Me," "Skin," and "Nonsense," that all showcase her pop and electro-pop beat. Her single, "Espresso," which was released in April, peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Carpenter's first top ten single on the chart.

Since then, he has received numerous accolades, including Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards, and multiple Grammy nominations, and has sold over 80 million records.

The American rock band, known for their self-titled RIAA Gold-certified debut album in 2010, launched hits like "My Body" and "Cough Syrup." Their follow-up albums, “Mind Over Matter” and “Home of the Strange” continued to explore themes of identity and belonging, with a mix of indie rock, pop, and alternative influences.

Lead vocalist Sameer Gadhia spoke about the band in an interview. “Throughout Young the Giant’s career, if you even look at songs from the first record, there is always this theme of [searching] for belonging. I think that the core of the immigration debate is: finding a place to call home and thinking you deserve to be there,” he said.

5) Reneé Rapp

August 9th at 6:55 p.m. at Twin Peaks

The Carolina-based singer and actress gained fame for her role as Regina George in the Broadway production of “Mean Girls,” showcasing her talent in musical theater. In 2022, she released her debut EP, “Everything to Everyone,” which includes hits like "In the Kitchen" and "Too Well." Rapp continues to gain recognition for her work in both music and acting, drawing praise for her versatility and talent.

She confessed during an interview, “Music was always the goal and the thing that I wanted to do. And honestly, it was the only thing I thought I was going to do…Acting and songwriting were my biggest insecurities. And those are literally what I do now. So, it’s great!”

6) ScHoolboy Q

August 10th at 5:25 p.m. at Lands End

The American rapper and songwriter shot to fame thanks to his gritty lyrics and dynamic flow. He was a prominent member of the hip-hop collective Black Hippy, which also includes Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul. Although he’s been around in the music industry since 2007, it wasn’t until the release of his third album, “Oxymoron” in 2014 that he achieved peak position at the US Billboard 200. The single "Collard Greens" (featuring Kendrick Lamar) is RIAA platinum-certified.

A Royalty Exchange catalog that contains ScHoolboy Q’s “Numb Numb Juice” plus other hits by Future, Lil Xan and Kendrick Lamar was sold for $32,000 in 2022. The buyer has earned thousands of dollars in revenue since acquiring it two years ago and can even resell it to someone else if they choose to do so.

7) Chapell Roan

August 11th at 4:00 pm at Lands End

Roan’s 2023 debut studio album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” continues to be a favorite on streaming platforms. Known for her colorful and engaging live performances, Roan has built a dedicated fan base and continues to be recognized for her authenticity and creative vision in the music industry. And this fan base is growing.

The New York Times wrote, “In May [2024], she was scheduled to play the National, a 1,500-capacity venue in Richmond, Va. The show was moved to Brown’s Island, which sold out 6,530 tickets.” Organizers of Outside Lands 2024 are expecting the same turnout of concert goers on her August 11th show. At Lollapalooza in Chicago last weekend it was said that she played what organizers called "the biggest day show in the festival's history".

8) Mindchatter

Bryce Connelly, a.k.a. Mindchatter, combines elements of electronic, indie pop, and experimental music. In his live performances, he is known for visual elements and unique stage setups that are immersive and reflective to draw fans into Connelly’s introspective world.

NYC has been a big part of his songwriting process. In an interview, he said, “New York City is somehow integral to my music. I get a lot of inspiration from bouncing around, taking the subway, going to restaurants and shows. Growing up in New York City, you’re exposed to so many different cultures, I think it’s the reason my music is such a cocktail of genres.”

9) Wisp

August 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Sutro

The American shoegaze musician has quickly gained recognition for her ethereal sound and introspective lyrics. Her debut single, "Your Face," was released in 2023, and was an instant hit on social media platforms like TikTok, where her music has resonated with a wide audience. It’s been really exciting. I wasn’t expecting it at all because I kind of just posted it online for fun. I thought it was a cool song, but I didn’t expect much out of it,” she said.

Her debut EP, “Pandora,” was released in April of this year, and is set for promotion during her debut US headline tour.

10) Chance Peña

August 11th at 4:40 pm at Panhandle

“What I pour into my music are emotions I’ve experienced and I, being human, feel the same things everyone else does and sometimes it’s hard to articulate what you’re feeling, so when you hear someone put what you’ve felt into words and sounds it hits home.” This is how Peña describes his process when asked how he uses human connection as motivation for his music.

Fans at the Outside Lands can expect the artist’s acoustic sets plus a performance of his newest single, “‘The Mountain is You,” which was conceived after he heard a voice memo recording of an organ from a church in Portland.

The 20-year-old Filipino-American singer, songwriter, and producer is making waves in the bedroom pop scene with his infectious melodies and vibrant persona. He moved to Los Angeles after high school to pursue music while also attending college. However, he quickly found success with his 2022 single "Spin You Round," which led him to pursue a full-time career in the industry.

Speaking about his debut EP, “Her Favorite Flowers,” which was released last year, he recalls young love in his songwriting. “I felt like writing about love and the experiences, and the trials and tribulations of what young kids— and people in general, go through with love,” he said.

12) Shaboozey

The singer, songwriter, and producer’s new album, “Where I’ve Been Isn’t Where I’m Going,” takes listeners on a journey through the American West, featuring hits like “Let It Burn” and “Annabelle.” Raised in Virginia with a diverse musical background, Shaboozey gained fame with his viral hit “Jeff Gordon” and contributions to the “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” soundtrack. His chart-topping single "A Bar Song (Tipsy) is currently spending its 4th week at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

“I just see things that inspire me, and I don’t think too much about why—I just follow my response. Whether it’s a vintage magazine, a movie, a pair of jeans, or a classic car, I just pay attention to what it makes me feel, and somehow that gets translated into music,” he tells Harper’s BAZAAR

The album has accumulated over 1 billion streams worldwide.

“When people are singing along to my music, I want them to be manifesting great things in their lives. You can sing or speak your way through hard times and turn a new leaf,” she tells Cosmopolitan.

But Monét had a different experience when she learned that her idol, Janet Jackson, was going to watch her show. “I was thinking of her most of the time during the show, just trying to escape from my head,” she admitted.

15) Chris Lake

August 10th at 8:30 p.m. at Sutro

The British producer and DJ made a name in the global house music scene with his chart-topping hits and dynamic live performances. With a Grammy Award nomination and appearances at major festivals like Coachella 2019, Lake continues to grow his fan base.
